Anthony Farnell
Anthony Farnell is a Chief Meteorologist for Global News in Toronto. He started out as a morning meteorologist at KPAX in Missoula, Montana. In 2006, he became the chief meteorologist at Global News.
One of his pet dogs has become a viral hit. The dog is a goldendoodle named Storm. It has gained a following thanks to a series of TV appearances and a viral video.
A video of Storm’s on-air appearance was seen by two million people. The dog was also featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Conan.
While the dog’s appearance on Global News was not particularly notable, the video did make the rounds on social media. Several news outlets posted the video on their websites and Twitter pages, gaining attention for the wagging tail and the novelty of a canine’s on-air appearance.
Peter Hadzipetros
Peter Hadzipetros is retiring after 29 years at Global News Toronto. Previously, he was a reporter, writer, and producer at the CBC.
He was also an early employee of the CBC’s web site, and one of the first to use the Internet to distribute news. Aside from his work on television, he also did web journalism.
He’s not the only former CBC staff member to join Global. Bob McAdorey, Linda Boyle, and Arlene Bynon are also part of the team. In addition, Leslie Roberts is the new anchor in charge of Global’s Montreal bureau. The network’s other Toronto anchors include Jacqueline Milczarek, Beverly Thomson, and Arlene Bynon.
Farah Nasser
Farah Nasser is one of Canada’s most recognizable news faces. With a background in journalism, and a strong political slant, she has been covering major events and news in the GTA for almost two decades.
Originally from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, she studied at Ryerson University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in radio and television arts. She later graduated from the University of Westminster in London, England. In 2010, she worked as a reporter for CablePulse24 in Toronto. Previously, she had an internship with CNN in New Delhi.
As a journalist, Farah has covered a variety of events, including the 2011 attack on a van in downtown Toronto. She was also on hand for the G20 summit in 2010. A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Radio and Television Arts program, she has also covered several elections, at every government level. Currently, she serves as a member of the board of directors for the Canadian Journalism Foundation.
Bruce Garvey
Global News Toronto anchors include Antony Robart, Linda Boyle, Jacqueline Milczarek, and Beverley Thompson. Global also has an Ottawa news bureau.
The network has received permission to add transmitters in Fort Erie and Sudbury. In addition, it is preparing to launch a new regional news channel in BC.
Bill Bramah joined the Global news team at the age of 61. He had previously worked for CBS in Milwaukee and the Chicago area. His duties included covering campus unrest, the Jimmy Hoffa disappearance, and the conflict in Northern Ireland.
Susan Hay, who had anchored Global’s national news programs, also took a job at the CBC. She was to join Bob McAdorey and John Daw as co-anchors of the news at noon.
Katherine Ward
A well rounded reporter, Katherine Ward is a multi-tasker who is proud of her many accomplishments. She is a grad of Humber College’s post-graduate journalism program, and currently works as a reporter for Global News in Toronto. During her tenure, she has covered a variety of stories from a number of regions around the country, including Toronto, Barrie and Victoria.
For starters, she has two young daughters. While Ward loves traveling, she also relishes spending time with her family in Muskoka. In addition, she was part of a team that was able to uncover a lead contaminated drinking water supply in Toronto.
Dave Trafford
If you’re a Canadian citizen, you’re familiar with Global TV. This is the first Canadian television network with a permanent mobile satellite transmitter. As a result, you can receive the network’s news on your home television. Currently, Global Toronto’s anchors include Arlene Bynon, Bob McAdorey, Linda Boyle, Lorrie Belanger, and Jacqueline Milczarek.
Dave Trafford was Global’s Managing Editor, News. He came to the network from Talk 640. Prior to joining Global, Trafford worked as an ND and asst at CFRB radio.
Dave Trafford joined Global in September 2007. Before that, he worked as an ND and asst for Talk 640.
In May, Gerry Noble was named president and CEO of Global Television Network. Leonard Asper was also named chief operating officer.
